The Sociology of Law Department

Education and research - looking at law from another perspective

The relationship between law and society has been the focus of our research at Lund University since 1972, when the subject Sociology of Law was founded.

Being the only university in Scandinavia and Europe to host undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses, we can proudly offer a complete training in Sociology of Law.

The Sociology of Law Department is an independent unit in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University, with some 30 researchers and teachers. Each year about 400 students study our courses.

We collaborate with numerous other units within Lund University, and also with other universities in Sweden, Europe and around the world. We also have a well-established network for research and education with organizations and companies expanding beyond the academic sphere.
