Reza Banakar Memorial Lecture with Yves Dezalay and Bryant Garth
This is the annual public lecture in memory of Professor of Sociology of Law Reza Banakar.
From Bologna to Shanghai: The International Reproduction of Legal Elites
Yves Dezalay and Bryant Garth have provided some of the most advanced studies of the contemporary globalization of law. Their complex sociological studies of the transformation of law and the state provide empirical and analytical insights rarely found in other studies of the globalization and transformation of states and law.
Dezalay and Garth have collaborated on projects since 1990. They have written or edited seven books and numerous articles. Their success comes partially from their different backgrounds: Garth is an American law professor comfortable with the button-down collar set. Dezalay is a French sociologist and critical theorist. Their achievements are also due to a similarity.
